Pre-School learning directions!

Preschooler has begun their coding adventure in class! We've introduced them to the concept of directional language, helping them understand terms like forward, backward, left, and right.

To build on this learning and make it fun, we encourage you to visit BeeBot.com at home with your child. This website features a virtual Bee-Bot, a friendly robot your child can control through simple commands.

Here's how you can guide Bee-Bot to reach its destination:

  1. Explore the website: Together with your child, navigate BeeBot.com and discover the colorful playmats. These mats will set the scene for Bee-Bot's journey.

  2. Choose a destination: Discuss with your child where they'd like Bee-Bot to go. Is it the flower patch, the treasure chest, or maybe a friend waiting on the other side of the mat?

  3. Give Bee-Bot instructions: Now comes the fun part! Help your child break down the journey into simple steps. How many steps forward does Bee-Bot need to take? Does it need to turn left or right at any point? Encourage your child to use directional words like "forward," "backward," "left turn," and "right turn."

  4. Test and adjust: Once you've planned the route, it's time for Bee-Bot to take action! Click the corresponding buttons on the website to send Bee-Bot forward, backward, or make turns. Did Bee-Bot reach its destination? If not, don't worry! This is a great opportunity to discuss what went wrong and adjust the instructions together.

BeeBot.com is a fantastic resource for your child to explore coding concepts in a playful and interactive way. Through trial and error, they'll learn valuable problem-solving skills and gain confidence in giving clear instructions.

We're excited to hear all about your Bee-Bot adventures at home!

Happy Coding!
